Club Constitution

The official name of the club is Nanshaolin Wuzuquan (Han Jin Yuan).

Use of the club’s name above, or any reference to Grandmaster Han Jin Yuan within a club name is not permitted by non-members. Usage of the club badge or artwork associated with this club is not permitted without the written consent of the Chief instructors.

Please note: Grandmaster Han Jin Yuan’s final wish was that a club be formed, uniting Instructors so they can teach the traditional arts of Nanshaolin Wuzuquan and Wujiquan.

Systems taught: The two systems that will be diligently taught and promoted around the world will be: Nanshaolin Wuzuquan (Southern Shaolin Five Ancestors Fist) and Wujiquan (Emptiness Fist).

Club Aims

  • To work within and promote the mottoes:
    • Patience
    • Humility
    • Respect
  • In addition, the eight tenets will be encouraged
    1. Honesty, 2. Diligence, 3. Tolerance, 4. Humility, 5. Courage, 6. Wisdom 7. Intensity, 8. Kung
  • To follow the traditional ways of the system and always ensure, that our lineage of Wuzuquan is not diluted or adversely influenced / promoted.
  • To improve the quality of life of our club members.
  • To clarify by example, any misconception the public may have concerning our Traditional Chinese martial arts of Nanshaolin Wuzuquan and Wujiquan (as above).
  • To honour the last wishes of Grandmaster Han Jin Yuan to build and unite a club in his name.

Club Membership

  • Any individual of good character, irrespective of their nationality, race or creed may apply for membership.
  • Potential members must be accepted as members before being allowed to participate any club activities.
  • The Committee reserves the right to refuse any membership application or renewal.
  • Memberships must be current and up to date.

Instructors

  • Only members who are the holder of a valid recognised Instructor certificate, and who has the permission of the Joint Chief Instructors, may give instruction to others.
  • All Instructors must undergo a period of training on the syllabus and training methods to understand their responsibilities.
  • All Instructors that are teaching should have a DBS and suitable Instructor insurance that includes Personal Liability and Professional Indemnity.
  • All classes shall be conducted to the approved syllabus.
  • Senior Instructors will be able to grade their students under the syllabus up to Black / White Sash (Nineth grade – see below) with the permission of the Chief Instructors.
  • Grades higher than this will require a Chief Instructor and a minimum of two Senior Instructors to ensure the student has achieved the required standard.
  • Before Grandmaster Han passed a newer syllabus was under dicussion. The syllabus grades are listed below:

    • First Grade: Grey
    • Second Grade: White
    • Third Grade: Green
    • Fourth Grade: Red
    • Fifth Grade: Maroon
    • Sixth Grade: Purple
    • Seventh Grade: Blue
    • Eighth Grade: Yellow
    • Ninth Grade: Black / White
  • The nine advanced grades are:
    • First Grade: Black Sash
    • Second Grade: Grey Sash
    • Third Grade: White Sash
    • Fourth Grade: Green Sash
    • Fifth Grade: Red Sash
    • Sixth Grade: Maroon Sash
    • Seventh Grade: Purple Sash
    • Eighth Grade: Blue Sash
    • Ninth Grade: Yellow Sash

Code of Conduct

(not listed in order of importance)

  • Members are required to present themselves punctually for classes, wearing the requisite clothing: Uniform T-shirt (plain white T-shirt for beginners), black jogging bottom trousers and training shoes.
  • Members are required to wear a clean uniform to every class.
  • To avoid any unnecessary injuries, members are required to remove watches, jewellery, and other metallic objects before training.
  • Students should remain attentive and concentrate on training whilst aiming to create a polite and friendly atmosphere in the class.
  • An attitude of comradeship, sportsmanship and co-operative learning is strongly emphasised.
  • Students should behave in an appropriate manner to properly observe the club’s mottoes of Patience, Humility and Respect – both in and out of a class!
  • Respect and friendship should be observed between members and extended to non- members of other martial art systems.
  • Members should refrain from making negative comments or posting negatively online to ensure harmony and friendship between all other Wuzuquan schools (if there is a Grievance, please see the Grievance Procedure).
  • Members should be fully aware that progress in training is gradual and is dependent upon the effort put As such, it is strongly recommended that members attend classes regularly and practice consistently at home.
  • When out of the class, the knowledge learnt should only be used for exercise or, in extreme cases and as a last resort, for personal self-defence or to aid another. Under no circumstances should any member initiate an aggressive act.
  • Periodically, Masters or Senior Instructors may be invited to provide seminars or workshops focusing on certain specific areas of Wuzuquan, Wujiquan, Qigong and / or Sanshou (Sanda). This may be provided by existing club members or approved non-members of the club.
  • These courses, and any arranged supplemental training, will not contradict efforts to ensure that the system we practice is undiluted because, it will be under the supervision of Senior Instructors and / or Joint Chief Instructors.
