35th International South Shaolin Traditional Martial Arts Competition, Quanzhou, China

Members of Nan Shaolin Wuzuquan (Han Jin Yuan) united with a contingent of 25 strong in Quanzhou China arriving on the 6th and departing on the 15th of November 2024. The event was hosted by the International South Shaolin Wuzuquan Friendship Association in Quanzhou, Fujian, China. The competiton held on the 11th of November and saw over 20 countries participate in the 35th International South Shaolin Traditional Martial Arts Competition.

The UK team jointly representing the memory of the late Grandmaster Han won 27 medals in total in hand, weapon & set-sparring events. Head coach Richard Timmis & Team leader Nigel Gilham led the united team to the various meetings, events, demonstrations and competition organised by the association.

Visiting the Quanzhou Shaolin temple, the Southern Shaolin Temple as well as the Laozi Mountain were just a few of the locations visited. Trips around the ancient city of Quanzhou (the starting point of the ancient Maritime Silk Road and a global maritime trade centre back in the Song (960-1279) and Yuan (1271-1368) dynasties) were also undertaken by the team members visiting the Kaiyuan Temple, Twin Pagoda's and even the coast of Fujian.

  • Gunjan - One silver medal
  • Peter D - One gold medal
  • Rossa - Two silver medals, one bronze medal
  • Leonardo - One silver medal, one bronze medal
  • Martin - One silver medal
